The French Alps offers a fantastic diversity of golf courses, each with different technical features, yet all with magnificent scenery, uncrowded fairways and panoramic views of the lakes and mountains of the Haute Savoie area.

Morzine-Avoriaz is a great place to base yourself for a golfing holiday, with two fantastic golf courses in the resort and many just under an hour’s drive away. A great activity for any young budding golfer too, with lessons for children in English at most of the golf courses.

Les Gets Golf Course

Par 70 – 10 minutes drive from Chalet Morzine

The 18-hole 5156m Les Gets Golf Course, boasts a proshop, French Golf Federation Golf School, and terrific mountain views. The holes are named after local peaks; Mont Blanc being the most impressive of this line up. If you think you might like golf, but are not sure where to start, then the club offers excellent packages for beginners, including children. There are plenty of golf buggies to help you get around the course and there is a great club house too. Enjoy a delicious meal on the terrace and admire the stunning Alpine scenery.

Golf d’Avoriaz

Par 36 – 10 minutes drive from Chalet Morzine

This 9-hole, 2,850m course is in a beautiful setting on the edge of the Proclou forest and commands an exceptional view of the Aravis mountain range. Situated at the entrance of the Avoriaz resort, this beautiful golf course offers 25 practice blocks (10 of which are covered), a putting green, practice bunkers and 2 practice holes. The golf academy at Avoriaz offers instruction for beginners and more advanced players alike in one of the most spectacular courses in France. A good clubhouse and golf shop ensures you have everything you need for an excellent golfing day out.

Evian Resort Golf Club

Par 72 – 40 minutes drive from Chalet Morzine

Evian Resort Golf Club, home to the Amundi Evian Championship, boasts two stunning courses that are open to players at all levels;

The Champions Course; 18 Holes / 6120 Metres, Par 72

The Lake Course; 6 Holes / 885 Metres, Par 18 

“It’s a great course, pretty complicated. You really need to keep the ball on the fairway. The rough is pretty thick. The greens play fast, some of the putts can be really tricky. You have to think about a lot of things, but that’s what makes it a great course.”Lexi Thomson

You can play just at Eviam, or you can buy into the Golf Pass Lake Geneva and play at 6 resorts on Lake Geneva accessible by car from Chalet Morzine.

Golf du Lac d’Annecy

Par 69 – 75 minutes drive from the chalet

Accessible to players of all levels, the18-hole 4,926m Golf Club du Lac d’Annecy ranges over the listed site of Roc de Chère, a protected nature reserve. This hilly and wooded course, which calls for skill and accuracy, will surprise you with some lofty tees and magnificent views of the mountains, the lake and Château de Menthon St. Bernard.

Golf Club de Chamonix

Par 72 – 70 minutes drive from the chalet

This 18 hole 6,076m course at Chamonix was designed by the world famous Robert Trent Jones Senior in a magnificent setting between the stunning Mont Blanc range and the massif of the Aiguilles Rouges. A wonderful club house and excellent golf shop are on site.

Mont d’Arbois Golf Course

Par 72 – 60 minute drive from Chalet Morzine

This challenging 18-hole, 6,100m course situated at an altitude of 1,320m is the oldest mountain golf course and acts as a reference point for other courses. It offers a challenging course with stunning scenery, and a Winter Cup!
