Morzine in Summer

With beautiful mountain lakes, miles of hiking and biking trails, famous cols to tackle, outdoor pools, and a town buzzing with events you could be forgiven for thinking that this was a better season for coming to the Alps than the winter! You certainly wouldn’t be the first to fall in love with this amazing place for its beautiful summers, and the way that it leaves you feeling like you have had a full factory reset.

Chalet Morzine really comes into its own in the summer. The large, picture-perfect garden and terrace areas are great for Al Fresco dining, playing outdoor games or sipping an aperitif as the sun goes down. Balconies on all sides of the chalet mean that you can sit and watch the world go by from every direction, or you can easily walk two minutes into town to be part of the action.

Mountain Biking

Morzine is renowned for its world-class downhill, enduro and cross-country trails, set among the most stunning scenery. In the heart of the Portes du Soleil, you have an extensive network of trails catering to riders of all skill levels, giving you a truly unforgettable experience whatever your start point.

At the chalet, you have secure storage for up to fifteen bikes in the summer, a bike wash area, a washing machine and dryer for all your kit, and a drying room. When it’s time to head out, you are only a few minutes from the Pléney main lift.

Road cycling

More and more road cyclists are heading to Morzine and the Portes du Soleil, and for good reason. If the relatively quiet roads, famous Cols and endless switchbacks aren’t tempting enough, perhaps the option of following in the footsteps of the Pros and the Tour de France could sway you.

The scenery for hiking is absolutely stunning. Whether you choose to lose yourselves in the forest, find a lunch spot with a view of Mont Blanc, walk to a swimming spot by a waterfall, or challenge yourself by taking on one of the more difficult peak walks, there is something for everyone. In Morzine alone, there are over 140 km of marked trails, and there is yet more when you venture further into the Portes du Soleil.

Outdoor Swimming

The opportunities for aquatic adventure, progressing swimming skills and splashing around just for fun are plentiful in and around Morzine. As a great way to escape the summer heat and keep everyone active and healthy, you will find water-based activities almost everywhere you go!

The French Alps offer a fantastic diversity of golf courses, each with different technical features, yet all with magnificent scenery, uncrowded fairways and panoramic views of the lakes and mountains of the Haute Savoie area. Morzine is a great place to base yourself, with two fantastic golf courses in the resort and many just under an hour’s drive away. A great activity for any young budding golfer too, with lessons for children in English at most of the golf courses.

Spa and Wellbeing

Focus on self-care and relaxation by heading to one of the incredible spas we have right here in the valley, or hire a therapist to come to the chalet. Return home feeling rejuvenated and ready to face the world anew.

Morzine has a raft of heart-pounding and breathtaking adventure experiences waiting for you to discover them. Whether you are a fast-paced thrill-seeker or finding your feet, there is an abundance of choices to suit everyone and every age. Soar high above the town in a tandem paraglide, take on the rapids, and have a go at rock climbing or via feratta. The question is just how much you are ready for!

Summer for Families

Where do we start? Morzine caters incredibly well for families in the summer and has been awarded the ‘Famille Plus’ label by the French Tourist Board. This means you can expect a large variety of activities adapted to suit different age groups, free activities, and plenty of family-friendly wrap-around care so that everyone gets their holiday.

Hang out at Chalet Morzine

Ok, so maybe we are a little biased, but we think that one of the best ways to spend the day is in the chalet garden. If it’s the first time you have all gotten together for the first time in a while there is plenty of space for you to reconnect, play games and just catch up with one another. You could have a BBQ, or even bring a chef in to do one for you while you just hang out and have family time.

Trail running in Morzine-Avoriaz

Morzine is a haven for trail runners. Well-marked trails trace through stunning scenery and varied terrain, making the destination a great choice for building your trail-running fitness. With difficulty levels ranging from flat and rolling through to vertical challenges and technical descents, there is something for everyone. Competitive trail running events dot the Morzine calendar and are open to all levels of runners, so you can challenge yourself, or come along to watch and get inspired.

Our first summer family holiday and a real success thanks to the care and attention of Chalet Morzine. A fantastic place for children, Morzine is just stunning. We want to live in the French Alps now!

This has really been the best family holiday ever. You have a fantastic chalet.

Tim & Rachel

We stayed with Chalet Morzine for 11 glorious sunny days. We enjoyed our walking in the flower-strewn mountains around the Morzine area with our multipass where we could use all lifts and buses and other attractions

Norma, Hull

It was great to put our feet up on the patio and relax in the beautiful sunshine after hiking. Thanks Lindsey for the ideas for the trips out and walks. We found Chamonix and Annecy to be stunning, and will remember the beautiful Alps and the English tea.
