A great way to feel rejuvenated, re-energised and relaxed on your ski holiday.

We are really lucky to have excellent massage therapy options in Morzine. One of our favourites, Martha, who works on a mobile basis and has been in our valley for some time, shares her view on why massage therapy is a good investment during your ski holiday.

What type of clients do you work with?

I offer a range of massage therapy styles from Sports Massage to Pregnancy Massage allowing me to work with lots of different people. Massage is for everyone and can benefit people in different ways; from skiers, bikers & runners just off the mountain looking for that recovery boost, to non-skiers wanting to indulge in a relaxation massage and have some time out.

What made you want to become a massage therapist?

All my life I’ve always done a lot of sport, mostly running but also skiing and biking. I understand the importance of recovery and keeping yourself on top form. No one wants to be injured in the mountains, there’s just too much fun to be had! Massage therapy helps you to keep on top of any niggles you feel whilst you’re in Morzine enjoying your favourite sport and gives you that ever-important switch off and time out.

How big of a difference can one massage make?

Massage makes a huge difference to how you feel, both mentally and physically. The benefits go much further than just speeding up recovery. Different types of massage aid healing in their own individual way. Having a one-off massage is a lovely treat, but if possible a course of treatments will allow you to get the most out of your time.

What’s great about a massage at Chalet Morzine?

The big advantage is the space to create the perfect area for your massage. The views from the chalet are beautiful and give that feeling of a real mountain retreat too.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Being a Mobile Massage Therapist I get to work in a range of different properties & locations. I love this part about my job as no two days are ever the same. I also work with teams and athletes both here in Morzine & different locations across Europe. It keeps work exciting and inspires me to continue developing my skills. The worst part about my job is that I do get very booked up during peak weeks and I hate saying no!! I wish I could fit everyone in! I really recommend booking in advance if you know you want specific times or dates.

Have you massaged anyone famous?

To me, it doesn’t matter who you are. No two massages are ever the same, all of my clients get to enjoy the same experience – a soft heated massage couch (heated only in winter), fluffy clean towels, bolsters & covers.

What do you do in your spare time?

When I’m not massaging I’m mostly enjoying time on the mountain. Trail Running is something I’ve always enjoyed and here in Morzine, we are spoiled for choice of routes! I love multi-day mountain adventures, exploring different areas and seeing all the beautiful wild animals. I update my Instagram and Facebook very regularly and share mountain moments as well as massage info on there for you to see.
