Unquestionably, this is a really beautiful area. You don’t need to leave Morzine during your stay, as there is plenty to keep you occupied for a week or two.
1. Annecy
Approx 1h40 drive
The French version of Venice with its wonderful old town, crisscrossed bridges and canals. Great shopping and fabulous markets are all at the side of the most amazing lake. You can take a boat trip on the lake, go windsurfing, take out a pedalo or just picnic and swim in the water. Annecy is an exceptional town and easily worth the journey time.
2. Chamonix
Approx 1hr drive
Chamonix, a very famous alpine town, is renowned for serious mountaineers and of course the mighty Mont Blanc. Standing majestic at 4,810 metres, the highest peak in the Alps and Western Europe, it ranks 3rd amongst the world’s most visited sites. You can take the cable car up to an amazing viewpoint of the mountain, hop on the tourist train to see the glacier or just enjoy the chic boutiques and ambience of the town.
3. Evian-les-Bains
Approx 1hr drive
The famous spa resort, where the Evian water factory is based. A stunning town on the waterfront of Lake Geneva with thermal baths and a spa, a lakeside outdoor swimming pool, boat trips to Switzerland, great shops and a popular casino.
4. Yvoire
Approx 1hr drive
A medieval walled village on the French shore of Lake Geneva and cited as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The fortified village which is pedestrianised has unique boutique shops and gorgeous restaurants offering the famous ‘lake perch’. The Five Senses Labyrinth Garden and the wonderful waterfront are the main highlights.
5. Geneva
Approx 1hr drive
Most people travel into or through Geneva without making it a stop. It is a gorgeous city, a little on the expensive side, but has a swathe of interesting sights and museums, as well as chocolate-making factories, the amazing Jet D’Eau, a beautiful old town with spectacular views from the cathedral, and the lakeside beach.
